The club was formed in 1982 and is one of the longest established running clubs in the Nottingham area. We have a strong road running tradition and an extensive cross country and fell running programme. The main focus is our Monday and Thursday training sessions at the National Water Sports Centre.
A few of us are fanatics running 6 times a week and entering 40-
For beginners, we suggest trying our friends at the Sweatshop who have beginners and improvers groups on a Monday night.
Not everyone wants to run races, but we encourage as many people as possible of all abilities to run for the club. No matter what your level, it could just make the difference! We participate in the Notts AAA Summer League and the North Midlands and East Midlands Cross Country leagues in the winter, as well as numerous other races.
We like to think of ourselves as much more than a running club. At present we meet at the Poppy and Pint, Lady Bay after Thursday training and we have an active social calendar with a number of events throughout the year.
Long distance relays on well known footpaths have been a popular part of the club since our first attempt, the Pennine Way, back in 1988. In recent years we have run the Offa's Dyke Path, Pembrokeshire Coastal Path, Southern Uplands Way, Hadrian's Wall Path, Cleveland Way, Cotswold Way, the Peddars Way and Norfolk Coastal Path. These are as much social as running events and an opportunity to enjoy some fantastic scenery along with the cameraderie of a weekend away.
The club organises the Holme Pierrepont Grand Prix series, which always attracts a large field of both club and unattached runners.
See the Membership page for more on what membership gives you and how to join.
