Storming Start to the Summer League

What a terrific start we had to the summer league at Hexgreave Park! An excellent turnout saw the club storm into the lead in all the four main categories, senior and vet men and women. In a reflection of our strength in depth, our B, C and even D teams placed creditably and in the vet mens category we even fielded H and I teams.

Let’s keep the momentum going and have another great night at the next race on 29th May at the Flowserve in Balderton, Newark.

Full results are on the Notts AAA website. Ignore the overall tabs, they seem to be incorrect.

East Mids Cross Country – Lots of Bling!

After the final race of the East Mids season at Long Eaton, both of our teams came home with a hat-full of trophies for the series.

In the exceptionally flat Long Eaton race, Oliver Matharu was again just pipped for the win and Gabrielle Caveney also grabbed a second place. Our ladies took three of the top five places.

In the series, our ladies won both the senior and vet trophies and our men the vets trophy. With the various B, C and D categories to add for each, we came home with a total of nine trophies!

Thanks to all of you who turned out throughout the series and thanks as ever for all the hard work from the organisers and in particular Shirley Starr.

Parkrun Challenge 2019

The dates for the 2019 Parkrun Challenge have been published. After an amazing turnout of 57 runners at the first race at Rushcliffe, the next race is on 9th February at Bestwood Village. There are some tweaks to the rules this year, and there are bonus points for running more races. The full list and rules are here.

Cliffs Handicap – History Repeats Itself 22 Years On (Almost)

Congratulations to Wayne Cranton, winner of this year’s Cliffs Handicap just two seconds outside his handicap time, a mere 22 years since his first victory. There are not too many of us around who remember that, and the only other runner in today’s race who ran in that same race was a certain… Patti Cranton. However, Christine Bland was out on the course marshaling today and you will see some familiar names in the results, which have recently been retrieved from the Running Free archives. Back in those days the winner was decided simply by fastest run against a handicap time.

Bramcote Cross Country Results

We had an excellent day at the first East Mids cross country race at Bramcote. In lovely conditions, our senior and vet men and our vet ladies all scored a win on this challenging course and lead their respective series.

There’s no let-up in the action, as the next race is our own at the Water Sports Centre next Sunday, 13th January. So let’s have another great turnout and if you’re not running, please help out with the marshaling.
